Big Data and Analytics, Career Advice, Leadership
Recently, I was reflecting on the thousands of students that have been in my classes, at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, and now at Foster School of Business, University of Washington. Over the past 18 years, over 4000 students took my very popular Analytics Consulting Lab. In just the last month, I have had the immense pleasure of connecting with many alumni of my classes. It was really great to hear about their success in life, family and career. I am proud of their accomplishments. Many asked me questions, asked for advice, or simply wanted to bounce something off me. It was rewarding for them and me. I thought it would be good, healthy, and positive to share this fun opportunity with others, too. Plus connecting with a friend can be a great way to brighten the day!
In my recent connections with friends and alumni, I have been asked for advice on business elements like the economy, trends in analytics, risk management, and marketing. But we also discussed more personal priorities job search ideas, tips on buying a house, how to prioritize an inspection report, ideas for picking a better credit card, ways to evaluate financial plans, advice for going back to school, and advice on picking a special wine. As you might remember, these topics come up in class and after class discussions. If these or other similar topics are on you mind, “Let’s Connect!” To be clear, I am not a buyer or or seller nor am a headhunter, so I can’t help much if you are selling or asking for a specific job placement. I’m also not selling anything.
So – “Let’s Connect! – Tell me What’s on Your Mind!
